    Paperback (I E Clark, Jan. 1, 1998)
ONE-ACT PLAYS FOR CHILDREN BY KATHLEEN SCHURMAN-O'CONNOR will delight children of all ages. Kathleen Schurman-O'Connor has written four plays about real children in real situations and one play about fictional children in a fairyland kingdom. In BILLY'S PROBLEM, Billy breaks a window. He tries to tell his father, mother, and grandfather about the accident, but they will not listen to him. They are too wrapped up in their own activities to listen to the little boy. GHOUL SCOUT CAMP shows a bunch of young girls camping outdoors and telling spooky stories around the campfire. AT THE BUS STOP is about a lonely, strange kid named Ian who is befriended by the other kids at his bus stop. When some older schoolmates say dirty things about Ian's parents, the kids from the bus stop rush to his defense and get into a fight with the bullies. Two of the kids' mothers punish them, while an understanding mother does not punish her children for standing up for Ian. In GRANDMA RUSNAK, Grandma has to babysit her ten grandchildren by herself. The kids do not always get along with one another. How does grandma manage to control all those grandchildren? Has she finally had enough? THE WIZARD OF ZOZ is a fantasy about a king and queen who promise to give their two daughters to three witches in exchange for peace in the kingdom. They later regret this promise. After the princesses learn about their parents' promise, the wizard arrives to lend his help, but he has lost his magic crystal and now the three witches have it. The magic crystal is guarded by a dragon called the Zar of Zoz. Who is this Zar of Zoz? Can the royal family and the wizard get the crystal back in time to save the two princesses? The plays may be presented separately or in any combination. Playing time for each play is 10 to 15 minutes.
